Loneliness

Jo CoxDuring her time as an MP, Jo Cox was dedicated to combating loneliness in the UK. Jo formed an independent, cross-party Commission of MPs and charities to highlight the fact that we can all do something to help lonely people in our community.

start a conversationLONELINESS CAN AFFECT ANYONE AT ANY STAGE OF THEIR LIFE
Over 9 million people in the UK across all adult ages – more than the population of London – are either always or often lonely.
So, what can we do as individuals to combat loneliness in our community? We can all do something by simply starting a conversation with a lonely person today.
If you would like to get involved or if you or someone you know is struggling with loneliness Jenny Bone 01865 820368 and our pastoral team would love to speak with you.

Don’t forget the following groups in our Village…..

KBS Café – “The friends you haven’t met yet”
Coffee A haven in the centre of our village open every Thursday from 9am ‘til noon in the Village Hall. Teas, coffees, bacon rolls, and of course cakes! There are toys for children and newspapers/magazines for the adults. Come and join us, meet new people or catch up with friends. There is always someone to talk to. If you would like to pray with someone there is always someone from our prayer ministry team available – just let Jenny Bone 01865 820368 know.

Helping hands As you may have read in the Village Newsletter our own Hazel Brennan & Margo Evans along with Valery Rose and Yvonne Longstaff are setting up a good neighbours scheme in the 4 villages of Southmoor, Kingston Bagpuize, Longworth & Hinton Waldrist.
The scheme aims to provide a transport and befriending service for those who would benefit from a little help and support. Anything from transporting someone to Kingsmoor Day Centre, KBS Café, doctors and hospital appointments to helping with shopping, gardening, small DIY jobs or simply popping in for a chat over coffee.
